Lighting is one way to spruce up kitchen cabinets. Other cabinet feature ideas are supplied below.
Mike Ferrara, "The Lazy Homeowner," discusses a variety of features to look for to make kitchen cabinets more functional.
  • Add halogen lights under cabinets for more light in the kitchen work space. Kits can be purchased for this, and lights can be added to a railing system.

  • A lazy Susan is a good idea for corner cabinets. They can be mounted at the top and bottom. These are great for reaching items in the back of the cabinets.

  • Trash containers on rollers can be mounted under a cabinet for organization.

  • You can buy bins that are mounted to the inside of cabinet doors, or bins that you mount inside the "faux" drawer fronts directly under the sink.

  • Towel racks that slide in and out can be mounted inside cabinets, or in tight spaces, such as the space between a cabinet and the refrigerator.
