Attach an Awning

Pre-manufactured awnings can add a decorative touch.
Awnings add a great decorative touch to your home and can be placed over doors or windows. Premanufactured awnings are available from catalogs and building supply centers, or you can have awnings custom-made for about $275.

* Installing an awning takes approximately one hour.

Materials:

Brackets (provided with awning)
Lag bolts
Ratchet
Drill
Level
Weather -stripping material
Safety glasses

  1. Position the awning at the desired height and check it for level. Then mark the position of the brackets.
  2. Pre-drill holes for the brackets, then use 2-1/2" lag bolts to loosely attach the brackets to the house.
  3. Attach weather stripping to the back of the awning so that it will come in contact with the side of the house.
  4. Hang the awning on the brackets and tighten the brackets firmly with a ratchet .
  5. Use self-tapping sheet-metal screws to attach the awning to the brackets.
