If you've ever considered using bricks to edge your landscaping and walkways, as well as installing low-voltage exterior lights, you now have an opportunity to do both at the same time.

Bob Goldman, of Argee Corporation, has developed a lighted plastic brick that can be used to highlight various areas in your yard. The bricks are connected with a plastic mortar piece that allows them to swivel (figure A). Most of the bricks appear to be solid, but some have a light inside (figure B).

The bricks have a photo image of a natural brick etched into the plastic (figure C), and they are hard to distinguish from regular bricks after they've been installed (figure D).

Installation is simple and requires no trenches or foundations. Just run a low -voltage electrical line along the area where you plan to install the bricks. Connect the bricks, and tap into the power supply by clamping the connectors onto the line (figure E). Then turn the bricks over and press them into place.

Connect the electrical line to the transformer provided with the kit, and plug in the transformer. Set the transformer for the times you want the bricks to illuminate , and prepare yourself for dramatic results (figure F).
