A '50s Ranch gets a modern, Pottery Barn-like makeover that includes a new paver walkway and driveway complete with a ramp for their child that is in a wheelchair. The goal is to make the house wheelchair accessible without looking like a wheelchair bound person lves there. The home will also get new landscape, paint, shutters and front door.

Brian and Heidi Brecht are two fun-loving "all games" kind of couple who are thrilled to have changes made to their craggy old house! The only reason they bought it in the first place was because of the price-period! Heidi is a part-time hairdresser and Brian is a project manager for Dreamworks. They have two children.

Tom Leach is a cute and funny young designer with fresh ideas on how to make this house pop without standing out like a sore thumb. He sees charming details and a romantic landscape along with a paver drive and winding walkway. The biggest issue is including the wheelchair ramp without it looking like a wheelchair home. They also want to make the house look rich and lush but unfortunately have a very small budget to do so. The challenge is to get it to look opulent but not over the top on a shoestring budget.

The goal is to bring depth and detail to this otherwise flat home. By adding caramel color to the home, a craftsman-style front door, window ledges and decorative molding, Tom will accomplish just that! Here's how he does it:

  • landscape
  • paint house
  • new front door
  • new driveway
  • new pathway
  • shutters
  • low cost projects
  • lights
  • various accessories
