Soaring Roofline
Before & After : Episode BAA-1113 -- More Projects »
Host Pat Simpson meets with a homeowner who likes her home and the neighborhood, but wanted to adjust the floor plan to make better use of the space. She wanted to use the under-utilized second floor to hold a master bedroom and remake the main floor to work better for her needs. She also wanted to modernize the exterior.
Architect Hamid Kashani's design added less than 200-square-feet to the home, but changed the interior dramatically. The exterior also received a face-lift with a dramatic new roofline, new siding and a more functional entry system. Inside, the footprint remained basically the same. But the spaces were opened up, creating the illusion of a larger home. The second floor received the most changes, with higher ceilings and bigger rooms, making space for a master suite and loft area.
