Forest Homes

Dream Builders : Episode DRB-901 -- More Projects »
Environmentally responsible design and construction have become a necessity in building today's homes. But in some places, any kind of home construction is treated as having a negative impact on the environment. Such is the case along the scenic, coastal Hwy. 1 in Big Sur, California. No development is permitted within sight of this famous highway, so local architect Mickey Muennig has come up with creative solutions.

Muennig's own home is totally underground -- causing unsuspecting visitors to find themselves standing on top of his sod roof. His other projects include a 22-foot -wide wine barrel transformed into a house, a flying-saucer like bachelor pad, and a holiday home shaped like a Greek Village.
