Cynthia Lynn of Columbia, Maryland, had always treasured the memories of summers spent with her family in a German manor. In fact, Cynthia was so enthralled with this European palace, that she and her husband, David, acquired some prime property , made architectural sketches from Cynthia's memories and proceeded to spend their retirement on an incredible 14,000-square-foot dream home that replicates the summer residence. Built over two years by their son, for a home schooling project, the house was so striking that corporate travelers often mistook it for a bed and breakfast . Retirement ended up being no problem when this confusion encouraged the Lynns to transform their home into a corporate guesthouse. Now travelers from all over America can enjoy a taste of European elegance in the small town of Columbia, Maryland.
