Linda and Charlie Miller often entertain their grown-up sons and families, but their living room is too small to fit their growing family. They wanted to remove the living room and nursery walls to expand the living space, as well as make extra room in the kitchen and dining room. The problem was this involved removing load-bearing walls, requiring the addition of beams stout enough to hold up their house.
