Contractor Paige Sneed is building her own 12,000-square-foot residential masterpiece out of steel. Sneed lives in middle Tennessee and wanted a structure that could stand up to the occasional tornado. She has been building the house for more than a year, overseeing every phase of the project.

Sneed started by asking herself what she wanted and created a home that her friends and children’s friends would want to visit. Features include an exercise room, sports bar and home theater. The master bedroom has a built-in fiber optic dome which can simulate a sunset or more than 22 constellations in the nighttime sky.

She describes this dream house as casually comfortable, not grandiose. All the rooms are very open and flow into one another. Sneed calls the exterior style "Old World Traditional," with a concrete composite finish that mimics the look of bricks.
