Sarasota Castle

Kurt Lucas and Ron Butine have just put the finishing touches on a home they built themselves that gives new meaning to the expression a man's home is his castle. Their castle in Sarasota, Fla., comes complete with a moat that doubles as the swimming pool, a bridge and a two-story turret and clock tower.

When visitors enter through the 13-foot stained-glass and wood front doors, they're stepping into another time and place. Details include wooden columns from Indonesia supporting Moorish arches and an antique Egyptian chest used for the vanity in the master bath. They’ve gone around the world on the Internet to order all the special touches like copper cupolas, tiles for mosaic trim, wrought-iron gates, chandeliers and faux ostrich skin trim on kitchen counters.
