Winter has begun and Richard sets a new goal to have the house closed in by February. There are signs of progress as the crew works feverishly to meet the goal. An inspector is called in to sign off on a permit for the septic system. Meanwhile, Douglas Rixey has some architect friends over to the construction site to show off the east coast wonder of concrete and plastic foam blocks.
The holidays are upon them and so the Landry's decide to let their family in on their "little" secret. Richard and Tanya give their first house tour to their first visitor, Tanya's mom, Maxine. After the holidays, construction continues and preparations are made to fill in the second floor. Richard hits rock bottom and makes a rash decision.
The holidays are over, the house is still not closed in and tensions are brewing. The second floor, the most difficult pour yet, must be finished. Richard begins to seriously question using concrete instead of stick building and sees nothing but time and money being wasted.
Richard realizes he can't do it all-run a business, raise a family and build a new home. He decides he needs some help.
