Classy Colonial Expansion

Jeff Lyons and Tom Flynn didn’t want to leave their 1950s fieldstone Colonial, but they were stifled by the small rooms and general lack of space. They decided an addition would be the best solution, but it had to match the integrity of the original home.

Architect Jeff Bossert helped design a two-story, 2,200-square-foot addition. Builder Robert Gervasi says it was like building a second house and he treated the project as such. The final result is a seamless transition from old to new. The exterior is covered with stucco colored to match the fieldstone facade.

The interior is a decorator’s dream. The first floor of the new addition features a family room with raised hearth, breakfast room, sitting room and a suite outfitted specifically for Lyons' mother. The second floor houses the new master bedroom/bath suite. The highlight is a stone fireplace imported from Italy.
