Contemporary Suburbs

Dream Builders : Episode DRB-813 -- More Projects »
The upscale suburbs of Potomac, Maryland, are populated with impressive Colonials and sprawling horse farms. However, when Ulrich and Christine Werner moved to Potomac from Germany they decided that instead of the common Colonial, they would go contemporary. The couple hired an architectural firm in Georgetown and set to work on a cutting-edge design. The uncommon home features tall, narrow windows marching along the ivory-and-red stucco facade and a huge wooden door shaded by a timber trellis. Beyond the entrance hall is a soaring living space with a dining alcove at one end framed by a steel-covered balcony and an electric blue wall.
