Cushioned Window Bench and Bookshelf

Cushions top off the combination window seat and bookshelf making for a perfect reading spot.
Materials:

safety glasses
nail gun
miter saw
staining brush
drill
sewing machine
birch plywood sheets
espresso wood stain
nails
screws
foam
cotton batting
thread

Figure A - The base of the seat is built then attached to the existing window seat and side walls.
1. Put on protective eyewear.
2. Build two separate box frames.
3. Nail together the sides, top and bottom of the boxes using a nail gun.
4. Fix a back panel on the box frames by using carpenter’s glue and a nail gun.
5. Make sure the frames are level with the existing window seat and fix them in place using a drill (figure A).

6. Using a nail gun, add the accent panels to the window seat (figure B) using a nail gun create a small lip on the edge of the seat so the cushion stays in place.
7. Create three cushions for the window bench.
8. Cut the foam to size.
9. Cover the foam with cotton batting.
10. Fold the batting and then pin it.
11. Sew along the edges to create a perfect seam for your window bench cushions.
12. Place the cushions and enjoy the revamped window bench.
