Twinkling Wall Art
If it seems like you’ve been staring at the same piece of wall art forever and are ready for something new, try making your own twinkling wall art.

Materials/tools:

one sheet 1/4" plywood
one sheet 1/4" medium-density fiberboard (MDF)
one 24-count package twinkle lights
one extension cord
one can black paint
one can purple (or other) paint
water
jigsaw
2P-10 glue (wood super glue with an activator)
drill with 5/16-inch drill bit

Steps:

1. Paint the sheet of MDF to get the gradient "sunset" effect. Paint the top portion one color and the bottom portion black. Dilute some of the paint then blend the top and bottom sections in the middle with the diluted paint (figure A).

2. On the sheet of plywood, sketch out a design of a tree (or any other design you might want).

3. Using a jigsaw, carefully follow your sketch, cutting out the shape drawn on the plywood (figure B).

4. Glue the cut shape onto the painted sheet of plywood.

5. Once it is dry, drill 24 small holes on various branches (figure C).

6. Thread the twinkle light bulbs through the backs of the holes.

7. Attach an extension cord, plug it in and watch it light up your room!
