Warm Basement Floors

Dream Builders : Episode DRB-1211 -- More Projects »
Builder Alton Onat says finished basements are among his clients’ top requests. But they always ask him to find away to avoid a cold, hard floor. He thinks he’s found the answer in a new type of sub-flooring. The panels are made of engineered wood with a water-resistant polyethylene membrane on the underside. Molded polyethylene cleats raise the floor up off the concrete, creating a permanent air space. Finish flooring options such as carpet, vinyl, laminate and engineered hardwood may be installed on top of the wood. Onat says the product doesn't require nails or glue and can be installed in about a day.
