Pat and Jodi begin by ripping out the old flooring. They also talk about what to do if you have old linoleum type flooring, which might be difficult to remove. Pat and Jodi go to work ripping out the shoe molding, base boards, and existing flooring. They also remove the thresholds. They finish by laying down the cement backerboard and filling in the joints.
Next, Pat and Jodi begin dry-fitting the tile over the cement backerboard. They mark off the area for their tiles by drawing a grid pattern. They spread the adhesive over the backerboard and lay the tiles. They cover basics, such as cutting tile, spacing the tile, and working around corners and doorways.
Grouting the tile joints is the last step for this project. Pat and Jodi talk about mixing the grout, using a rubber float and polishing the surface.
