The smooth rocks on this hearth provide color and texture, as well as extra seating.
Materials:

small rocks
mortar
trowel

Steps:

1. Using a trowel, place an even layer of mortar on the hearth of the fireplace.

2. Place each stone flush in the mortar. You may have to push thicker stones deeper to ensure a level surface.

3. With each stone, you are creating a mosaic that is beautiful and provides a great place for people to sit.
