Steps:

1. Using a narrow, extra-long drill bit, drill an exploratory hole through the interior wall (figure A).

2. Insert the wire probe into the hole and twist it around to search for possible obstructions hidden in the wall (figure B). If you hit something hard, you'll have to drill elsewhere. If it seems clear, then proceed to drill through the outside wall.

3. Measure the diameter of the vent tube that will go through the wall (figure C).

4. If you have a 4-inch pipe, then you'll need to draw a circle with a 2-inch radius centered on the pilot hole.

5. Mark two reference points on opposite sides of the pilot hole, then hold the vent tube up against the wall and draw a circle on the wall (figure D).

6. Use the auger bit to widen the pilot hole (figure E).

7. Insert the jigsaw blade into the hole, then carefully cut out to the circle you drew on the wall. Turn the saw and cut along the line until you've cut out a circle (figure F).

8. Now go outside and rip you a hole in the exterior wall. Find the pilot hole you drilled and repeat the process for cutting out a hole (figure G).

9. Test-fit the shroud assembly to make sure it fits, then clean the area around the hole so the caulk has a nice clean surface to adhere to.

10. Insert the shroud (figure H), drill pilot holes and secure the shroud with screws. Caulk around the edges and you're done with the outside part of the project.

11. Place weather stripping around the inside portion of the shroud assembly (figure I) and hook up your dryer.
