Steps:
  1. Measure all windows and determine shutter length so that it's a little below the top casing of the window. Prime and paint shutters with two coats of exterior satin latex paint if necessary.
  2. Drill pilot holes at each corner of the shutters. Hold in position and make a mark through holes for placement (figure A). Drill pilot holes in siding and attach shutters with accompanying screws.
  3. Touch-up screw heads with leftover paint.

Note: Decide if shutters can be put up on all windows. There may be obstacles such as meters, chimneys, vents, etc., that prevent them from being hung on each side of every window.
