Handywoman Adair Thies explains how to install a doggie door.
- Bring your dog along to the pet store when choosing a doggie door to make sure that it's the correct size for it (figure A). If your pooch is still a puppy, be sure to buy a door that's going to be large enough when it grows up.
- Make sure the dog will fit through the door before installing it. If not, return the door and get the next-largest size.
- Lay out all the parts and tools before starting and read through the directions a few times to become familiar with them.
