Landscape architect Robert Brockman uses his virtual makeover to transform this contemporary ranch house into a Mediterranean-style villa.
He starts by exposing the rafters over the front porch, bringing light and air to this dark entry, along with a touch of Spanish rusticity. He continues in this vein by adding a stucco-faced arcade along the front of the porch and replacing the front windows and doors with rustic wooden versions that repeat the arch motif.
Next, Brockman adds a second story to the house, which sets it back slightly. Arched windows are continued across the second-story facade. He then stuccoes the entire facade, and resurfaces the roof in terra-cotta ceramic tiles.
The garage door is replaced with one in a distressed natural wood, to match the front door. Finally, two arched gateways are added to either side of the facade, repeating a theme that began with the front porch.
