Add a Border to a Ceiling

1. Put the border on the ceiling first, and then paint the ceiling center in the desired color. Cut-in as close as possible to the border without touching it.

2. Cut-in with the desired paint on the other side of the border, again getting as close as possible without touching it. Roll the paint on. Use tape to create mitered corners, and then paint two opposite sides of the ceiling. Once dry, tape-off the painted edges of the corners and roll the remaining two sides. Don't put tape on the border as it may damage it.

3. Once all of the paint and border is dry, nail some decorative trim around the border to really highlight it and to cover the unpainted edges (figure A).
