Materials:
ceiling medallion
black satin latex for base coat
texture base coat (antique bronze, copper, gold)
rubbing alcohol in spritzer bottle
sea sponge
high-density wall buffer sponge
1/4" plywood
construction glue
candle sconce
Steps:
- Prime medallion with black satin paint.
- Randomly sponge on antique bronze, gold and copper texture base with the same sea sponge without rinsing it between colors (figure A).
- Rinse sponge and lightly touch surface to soften and open up and blend some areas, as desired.
- Spritz or dab with rubbing alcohol and wait for activation.
- Use wall buffer sponge to blot up extra moisture, drying sponge on rag as needed.
- Pounce the entire surface with wall buffer sponge to create a hammered/reverse effect (figure B).
- For the sconce, repeat the same process on a round piece of 1/4-inch plywood. Glue to medallion center with construction glue and attach candle sconce.
