Figure B
Materials:

ceiling medallion
black satin latex for base coat
texture base coat (antique bronze, copper, gold)
rubbing alcohol in spritzer bottle
sea sponge
high-density wall buffer sponge
1/4" plywood
construction glue
candle sconce

Steps:

  1. Prime medallion with black satin paint.
  2. Randomly sponge on antique bronze, gold and copper texture base with the same sea sponge without rinsing it between colors (figure A).
  3. Rinse sponge and lightly touch surface to soften and open up and blend some areas, as desired.
  4. Spritz or dab with rubbing alcohol and wait for activation.
  5. Use wall buffer sponge to blot up extra moisture, drying sponge on rag as needed.
  6. Pounce the entire surface with wall buffer sponge to create a hammered/reverse effect (figure B).
  7. For the sconce, repeat the same process on a round piece of 1/4-inch plywood. Glue to medallion center with construction glue and attach candle sconce.
