Since the usual border areas weren't going to work in this room, a ceiling border was created using homasote and decorative trim.
Materials:

Homasote
primer
mat knife
trim
paintbrushes
nail gun
caulk
wallpaper border
nail gun

Steps:

  1. Cut Homasote board with a matte knife to the width of the border and to the lengths needed. Prime the pieces twice to make sure that the wallpaper will adhere to it.
  2. Once dry, mount the Homasote to the ceiling with a nail gun and caulk around the edges.
  3. Glue border to the Homasote just like it would be put on a wall. Miter the corners to give it a more finished look.
  4. While the border is drying, paint the trim in a coordinating color. Once dry, install it using the nail gun.
