Bill Coleman brings new meaning to the phrase "bringin down the house." He wanted a chic party house, but also valued energy efficiency. From the outside visitors see a modest-looking house accentuated by glass blocks. Step underground, however, and the home is larger-than-life.
Glass blocks along the top of the great room face east and west, allowing plenty of light into the house and making it hard to believe the room is beneath 800 tons of concrete and earth. From topside, the home has been likened to a submarine.
