For nearly 30 years, Jim Bishop has been building his American dream one stone at a time. A high-school dropout once told he would never amount to much, Bishop has used tremendous natural ingenuity and lots of determination in building his castle.

So far he's moved more than 17,000 tons of granite with his hands. At more than 140 tall, the castle is an impressive sight on the Colorado mountainside. Bishop is now building an elevator for the main tower using basic counterweight concepts.
