Architect Todd Walker wanted to build a home for himself and his family that was distinctive, or as Walker says, "A piece of art, a very large piece of art." The result is Hannah's House, named after his daughter. Located on Harbor Island in Memphis, this home sits on a narrow, sloping lot overlooking the mighty Mississippi.
At first glance, the two-story contemporary reminds one of a house from the Monopoly game, or even Dr. Seuss. A detached garage adds balance to the mix. Walker placed the windows, porches and patios to receive the best views. The interiors are open and colorful, with the use of raw materials such as concrete masonry units, rusted steel beams, pipe columns, birch veneer plywood and mixed-maple wood floors. Walker was both the architect and "the dream builder" on this project.
