Christmas for a Cause
Special Presentation : Episode HECS2-S03 -- More Projects »
For more than 30 years, the Clot family has brought a little piece of the North Pole to tropical southern Florida. What started as a small display has grown bigger than Santas waistline. Their home now glows with the brightness of more than 600,000 lights and 100 animated displays. All told the presentation uses 2,000 amps of power. Converted to dollars it comes to a $4,000 monthly electricity bill.
Every year the Clot family gives away over 60,000 candy canes to children who visit the site. But that's not where the giving stops. For the last decade, the Clots have used the annual display to garner donations for the Woman's Cancer Association of the University of Miami. So far they have raised more than $300,000 for cancer research.
