Walter and Kirsty Burns are both professional interior designers who will take on their most personal project yettheir own home! There are lots of changes in store for their 100-year-old home, but the main goal is to bring it back to its Victorian-era roots. Highlights of the project include building a new sunroom and covered porch, and creating a classic Victorian garden. Walter and Kirsty enlist the help of their friend, architect Laurie Friedman. Friedman has some smart and creative solutions to add to Walter and Kirsty's vision. With everyone working together, the house undergoes a truly dramatic transformation. Here's how they accomplish it:
- Remove the current entry, hidden at the back of the house and build a new sunroom in its place. Vintage stained glass windows get installed in this room.
- Build a covered porch with decorative spindles and Victorian gingerbread accents.
- A new cobble path connects the house to the driveway, with an arbor serving as a gateway to the garden.
- Garden accents: a fountain, topiaries and new plants including Angel's Trumpet and Bird of Paradise.
- A long row of plum trees lining the driveway
- New railings on the roofdeck.
