Menemsha Pond
Special Presentation : Episode HAMH1-S03 -- More Projects »
Sitting on the shores of Menemsha Pond off Martha's Vineyard is a 21st century house based on a centuries old concept. Looking modern in every aspect, this house is actually based on the traditional houses of the Wampanoag tribe, the indigenous people who called this area home for hundreds of years.
The flagstone walkway leads to the great room, an architectural melding of the homes public rooms based on the Native American roundhouse. The dynamic cedar fireplace divides the dining room, kitchen and the two sitting areas into functional, properly scaled rooms. It is an amazing house from an age-old design of life, sitting on the still shores of Menemsha Pond.
