Wearing eye protection when working with power tools is a must, but sometimes you also need ear protection. Anytime you're operating a noisy power tool, especially for extended periods, take care to protect your hearing.

Disposable foam plugs are easy to fit in the ear. Just roll them between your fingers a couple of times until they're small enough to fit in your ear, then insert. They will expand and fill your ear, shutting out noise (figure A).

Ear set type protectors feature foam plugs connected by a headband (figure B). They fit over your head and the plugs go in your ears. They're also easy to just hang around your neck when not in use.

Earmuff protectors are great for shutting out really loud noise (figure C).
