Home repair expert Henry Harrison shows a guest how to spruce up her stained sidewalk using a rented pressure washer. On his elbow grease scale of one to four, Harrison gives this job a one.

Tools:

pressure washer
adjustable wrench
garden hose
gloves
safety glasses

Steps:

1. Before starting, make sure you're dressed for the job. Wear sturdy shoes, no sandals please, along with long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Also make sure to wear eye protections.

2. Hook water supply to washer. Attach a garden hose by hand and tighten the connection with an adjustable wrench.

3. Adjust the pressure of the power washer to its minimum setting.

4. Hook up the hose and spray wand and select a spray tip.

5. Turn on water supply and start the pressure washer. Do not start the washer with the hose turned off or you could damage the motor.

6. Begin washing your walkway. Hold the nozzle fairly close to the surface for greater cleaning power, and blast away stains as if you were sweeping.

7. Spray away loose residue with garden hose when finished.
