Padlocks are all about keeping your valuables safe and secure. Make sure you get the right lock for the job.

For outdoor use, such as securing a storage shed or gate, a brass lock is weather and rust resistant and makes an excellent choice (figure A).

A standard steel lock is inexpensive and works fine for indoor use, such as locking up a file cabinet or toolbox (figure B).

A stainless steel lock with a hardened case and collar offers added protection from bolt cutters and is a good choice for high-security applications (figure C).
