There are many different types of brooms, and the kind you need depends on the type of surface you need to sweep. A standard 18-inch bristle push broom works best on concrete and asphalt because the bristles are so far apart (figure A).

Consider a sturdier version with a reinforced frame and 24-inch head (figure B). The ends of the bristles are split, which allows the broom to capture more material.

Another good choice is a broom with angled bristles that are packed close together (figure C). The ends are split which will allow the broom to get into tight spaces quicker and pick up a lot of material.

If you need to sweep and clean at the same time, consider a rugged scrub broom (figure D). The bristles are very strong and packed close together. They are also heat and chemical resistant and designed to get wet
