Underground House
Homeowners Pete and Sal built this Terradome design house into the side of a hill. Made entirely of concrete, rooms in the house have dome ceilings and walls measuring 9-1/2 inches thick. A reinforced concrete roof is covered with dirt and grass. The house, complete with a garage and two gardens, has arched windows and a stucco exterior.

Inside the home, light fills every corner. Large windows face southeast and there is a skylight in the back of the house. The 2,950 square foot home has a living room, kitchen, recreation room, solarium and three bedrooms. Built into the earth, the home retains a cool temperature but also heats easily as black tile in the solarium retains solar warmth.
