Scripps Networks Launches Second Broadband Channel

HGTV BathDesign Builds On Success Of HGTV KitchenDesign

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 21, 2006) — Scripps Networks has served up millions of videos views since its first broadband channel, HGTV KitchenDesign (www.HGTVKitchenDesign.com), launched in January 2006. Now the leader in lifestyle media announces the launch of its second targeted broadband channel, HGTV BathDesign (www.HGTVBathDesign.com), which enters a trial phase this week before going live to consumers at the beginning of May. The channel will launch with nearly 200 streaming videos on the latest in bath innovations, design trends, and expert room makeover tips.

"Kitchen and bath go together, so this is a natural second step for us in broadband. Our audience has shown a strong enthusiasm for our first channel, HGTV KitchenDesign, and with the introduction of HGTV BathDesign we are continuing to deliver on our commitment to 'super-serve' the segments of our audience looking to dig deeper into Scripps Networks considerable collection of ideas, information and inspiration," said Ron Feinbaum, senior vice president and general manager of Scripps Networks Interactive. "Our content lends itself to creating these unique destinations for audiences to interact with our brands in a whole new way and also to connect with others who share their interests and passion."

Scripps Networks was among the early programmers of original broadband content, first premiering a broadband exclusive on HGTV's Dream Home Giveaway on HGTV.com three years ago. But while typical broadband packages on HGTV.com and Scripps' other popular websites — including FoodNetwork.com, DIYNetwork.com, FineLiving.com and GACtv.com — feature five or six videos, these broadband channels are the deepest, richest broadband resource in the kitchen and bath categories available today. The combined channels offer more than 500 videos on all things kitchen and bath, a comprehensive suite of interactive tools such as an online designer that allows users to recreate their existing or desired floor plan and populate with their existing or desired appliances and features; a video player which allows users to enhance the viewing experience by simultaneously and seamlessly receiving further information about an idea or a product as the video plays; and applications that allow users to save and share information about their design plans as well as products and services they have found useful.

Broadband is an important platform for Scripps Networks; building on the popularity of its successful Web sites and serving to strengthen its core cable networks. "By providing content in a new way, we can reach a whole new audience and introduce them to our established brands. This creates demand for our networks and for the broadband service that our cable operator partners provide," said Jim Sexton, senior vice president HGTV.com, DIYnetwork.com, HGTVPro.com and the two broadband channels. HGTV BathDesign is the second of several channels that will be launched over the next two years by Scripps Networks. The additional broadband channels also will reach tightly targeted affinity groups in the lifestyle arena.
