Carol Duvall to cease production of The Carol Duvall Show

The Queen of Crafts will continue to be seen on Home & Garden Television

Knoxville, TN [June 7, 2004] -- Long-time HGTV host Carol Duvall, known nationally as the "Queen of Crafts," announced that her show, The Carol Duvall Show, will complete production of its final 91 episodes in the fall of 2004. New episodes will begin airing in October 2004 on HGTV, and the show will continue to air on HGTV and on its sister network, DIY – Do It Yourself Network, for the foreseeable future. Instructions for her many projects will remain available on HGTV.com and DIYNET.com.

Duvall’s program was one of the original offerings on the newly founded Home & Garden Television network in 1994, and it has remained one of the lifestyle network’s most popular shows throughout its 10-year run. Duvall taped the 1000th episode of The Carol Duvall Show in April 2003.

"Carol Duvall has been an integral part of HGTV programming since our launch," says HGTV President Burton Jablin. "Year after year, the show found new and loyal viewers, and there is a whole generation of viewers who have grown up with Carol Duvall. We will miss her and wish her well as she moves on to new chapters in her life."

Duvall's television career began with a children's show in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1962 she joined a Detroit television station and spent 18 years in a variety of positions, ranging from news anchor to co-producer and host of her first craft-oriented program. By the late 1980s she was crafting on ABC's Home Show, and in 1994 became host of The Carol Duvall Show on HGTV. With humor and practical know-how, she has provided expert crafting advice to audiences across the nation.

After celebrating a career that spans more than 50 years, Duvall's immediate plans are to continue her presence in the crafting industry with numerous guest appearances throughout the country. And according to Duvall, she plans to "stop procrastinating and finally write that book everyone’s been after me to write. I’m also going to practice what I preach and go through all of those photographs that are stuffed in drawers and get going on my scrapbooking."

In addition, Duvall says she is really looking forward to "hosting a Crafting Cruise aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’ new MS Miracle in February 2005 along with a half dozen regular guests from the show who are viewer favorites."
