2008 CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL® LIFE'S A JOURNEY SWEEPSTAKES OFFICIAL RULES

Eligibility: The "2008 Choice Hotels® Life's a Journey Sweepstakes" (the "Sweepstakes") is open only to legal residents of the United States, its territories, possessions and commonwealths (excluding Puerto Rico) who are 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in the state they reside, whichever is older) at the time of entry. Employees, members of their households, immediate family members (including spouses, parents, siblings, children and each of their respective spouses) of each such employee, officers, members and representatives of Choice Hotels International Services Corp., The Team Group, Scripps Networks, LLC d/b/a HGTV, and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies and all local sponsors are not eligible. Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor and Administrator's decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Sweepstakes. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

Sweepstakes Host: Scripps Networks, LLC d/b/a Home & Garden Television, 9721 Sherrill Boulevard, Knoxville, TN 37932 ("Sweepstakes Host").
Timing: The Sweepstakes begins on April 28, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") and ends on May 28, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. ET (the "Promotion Period"). Administrator's computer is the official time keeping device for the Sweepstakes.
How to Enter: You may enter the Sweepstakes in any of the following ways: (i) register online by visiting the Home and Garden Television ("HGTV") web site (www.hgtv.com) (the "Web Site") and completing the online entry form (limit one (1) online entry per valid email address, per eligible person per day); or (ii) via regular mail by hand printing your name, complete address and phone number either on a postcard or on a separate piece of paper no larger than 8½ x 11 inches, and mailing the postcard or paper to: "Choice Hotels International's 'Life's A Journey' Sweepstakes," P.O. Box 416, Florham Park, New Jersey 07932. Entrants using U.S. mail may enter as often as they wish. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by May 28, 2008, and received by June 4, 2008. Limit one (1) entry per envelope. Mechanically reproduced entries will not be accepted.
In the event of a dispute as to the identity of any winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. The potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder. Proof of mailing, in person submission, or online submission is not considered proof of delivery or receipt. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incorrect, illegible, and incomplete entries which will be disqualified. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.
Online entrants may also receive information from the Sponsor regarding other promotional offers. When you enter at the Web Site, you may be asked to consent to receive promotional e-mails and reminders for upcoming Choice Hotels International promotions and information about Choice Hotels International. Consenting to receive such e-mails is optional and such consent is not required in order to be eligible to enter the Sweepstakes. Consent to receive emails does not improve your chances of winning. In the event you do consent to receive these e-mails, the use of such e-mails and any other personal information collected through the Sweepstakes shall be subject to Choice Hotels International's privacy policy which is available at: http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/PrivacyPolicy?sid=rW1n.j9S3mgg45g.8. Entrants may view a copy of the Official Rules on the Web Site or obtain a copy by sending a stamped, self-addressed #10 sized envelope ("SASE") to: "Choice Hotels International's 'Life's A Journey' Sweepstakes," P.O. How Winner will be Determined: Administrator is an independent judging organization whose decisions as to the administration and operation of the Sweepstakes and the selection of the potential winner is final and binding in all matters related to the Sweepstakes. The Administrator will randomly select the potential Sweepstake winner ("Grand Prize Winner") from all eligible entries received during the Promotion Period, on or about June 4, 2008. The potential winner will be contacted either in person, by overnight courier, or by phone on or about June 10, 2008. The potential Grand Prize Winner will be required to sign and return a properly executed affidavit of eligibility and release of liability and publicity (where permitted), within ten (10) days of issuance of prize notification. A potential Grand Prize Winner may forfeit his or her prize if the following occurs: (i) the Sponsor is unable to contact the potential Grand Prize Winner; (ii) the potential Grand Prize Winner fails to complete and return all requested forms by the required date, or (iii) the Grand Prize Winner fails to comply with any of the Sweepstake requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Grand Prize will be awarded.
Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will win Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00). Total value of Grand Prize: $25,000.00.
General Prize Conditions: The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received for the applicable drawing. The Grand Prize will be awarded directly to the Grand Prize Winner. No payments will be made to third parties. Taxes, gratuities and other expenses associated with the receipt of the prize and not specifically identified in these Official Rules are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. The Grand Prize is non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor's sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the Grand Prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason.
Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. If, in the Sponsor and Sweepstakes Host's opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Sweepstakes, or if a computer virus, bugs, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical difficulties, or failures compromise, corrupt or affect the administration, integrity, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right at their sole discretion to (i) disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and void any entries submitted fraudulently, (ii) modify or suspend the Sweepstakes, or (iii) to terminate the Sweepstakes and conduct a random drawing to award the prizes using all eligible, non-suspect entries received as of the termination date. Should the Sweepstakes be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, notice will be posted on the Web Site.
Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY'S FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
Taxes: All costs, taxes, fees, and expenses associated with any element of the Grand Prize not specifically addressed above are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. All federal, state and local taxes on prizes are the Grand Prize Winner's responsibility. The Grand Prize Winner will be issued a 1099 tax form for the ARV of the Grand Prize. The specifics of all aforementioned elements of the Grand Prize in this Sweepstakes shall be solely determined by Sponsor. Some restrictions may apply.
Release: By entering, all participants and/or entrants release the Sponsor and Sweepstakes Host, Administrator, and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent companies and each such company's officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against all claims and damages arising in connection with each entrant's participation and/or entry in the Sweepstakes and/or their receipt or use of any prize awarded in this Sweepstakes.
Publicity: By entering into the Sweepstakes, all entrants consent to the use of their name, photograph, likeness, biography, voice and/or video for advertising and promotional purposes, including online announcements, worldwide and without limitation and without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
Limitations of Liability: The Released Parties are not responsible for: (i) any incorrect or inaccurate entry information; (ii) technical malfunctions; failures, omission, interruption, deletion, or defect of any telephone network, computer online systems, computer equipment, server providers, or software, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in this Sweepstakes; inability to access the Web Site; (iii) theft, tampering, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries; (iv) transactions that are processed late or incorrectly or are incomplete or lost due to computer or electronic malfunction or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site; (v) printing or human or other errors; and (vi) any entries which are late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, stolen, mutilated, illegible or postage due, or any combination thereof. If for any reason an entrant's entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant's sole remedy is another entry in the Sweepstakes, provided that if it is not possible to award another entry due to discontinuance of the Sweepstakes, or any part of it, for any reason, Sponsor, at its discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for the prize offered herein.
Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively in the federal courts sitting in Maryland or the appropriate Maryland State Court located in Montgomery County, Maryland; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys' fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Maryland without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Maryland.
Sweepstakes Results: Beginning on or about June 18, 2008, you may obtain the names of prize winners, via the Web Site or mailing a SASE to: "Choice Hotel International 'Life's A Journey' Sweepstakes Winner's List," P.O. Box 233, Florham Park, New Jersey 07932. Requests received after July 11, 2008 will not be honored.
