The space: 1942 moderne-style building
The challenge: Creating a compact artist studio/home
How he did it: “Spare” and “multipurpose” are
the watchwords in Kerry's artist residence. A kitchen table doubles as a workstation
and DIY art is encouraged, thanks to the built-in blackboard and large-scale
(one photo blown up and then framed in pieces) and small-scale (small photos
cut out of a book and pinned to the wall) photo displays. And what budding creative
wouldn't want to spend some time contemplating in Eames plywood chairs? |

The space: 1942 Renaissance Revival
building
The challenge: Injecting personality onto a blank canvas
How he did it: There's nothing like ivory leather and lots of
curves to deliver a shock of pop. In fact, circles are a recurring theme in Kerry's
“mod” loft: the divider curtains made of disks, the round coffee
table, the gray dotted vinyl mat in the kitchen, a globe bedroom lamp and our
favorite, Philippe Starck's inviting lavender ploof chair from Kartell. |

The space: 1960s building, concrete ceiling,
tall windows
The challenge: Warming up an industrial-looking space
How he did it: Kerry used classic, sophisticated furishings in shades
of white along with a dramatic dose of rich woods to play off this loft's unfinished
concrete ceiling. |
