John Groszkiewicz woke to another frigid morning just off the banks of Lake Erie. As he and his wife, Karen, began to get their four children ready for school, at just after 7 a.m. things suddenly heated up at the Groszkiewicz household.

That's when they all found out that John is the winner of the 2003 HGTV Dream Home Giveaway--a $1 million custom-built, fully furnished designer home near sun-drenched Mexico Beach, Florida--complete with a 2003 GMC Envoy XL parked in the garage.

Groszkiewicz, a computer programmer for a local valve and fitting manufacturer, entered the giveaway online at HGTV.com, where he took the 360-degree, virtual tour of the 2800-square-foot home. He also signed up for the HGTV e-mail newsletter. Joan Steffend, host of the annual, one-hour HGTV Dream Home television special, delivered the happy news.
