The master bathroom, which is part of the master bedroom suite, balances simplicity and luxury. A mirror inside the door, made of reclaimed wood, welcomes you into the room.

In a room that is primarily white, the apple-green countertop adds a dose of whimsy. Interior designer Linda Woodrum softened the vanity by adding a tailored drape in brown and white checks, which covers several rolling baskets that contain toiletries and personal items. The round mirrors over the sink are repurposed windows from an old house.

The shower is lined with white ceramic tiles. Its one-handle faucet and showerhead in brushed nickel keep with the simple theme. An aerator on the shower reduces water flow without compromising water pressure.

Large windows let in the sun without compromising privacy. These windows are among the most efficient on the market. They reduce the amount of glare and heat gain through high-performance glass and are surrounded with additional flashing to help prevent moisture problems.

The house is designed to minimize the length of the hot water lines, reducing energy wasted waiting on hot water at the shower or faucet. Tankless water heaters service the house and save energy by only heating water when needed.

A small toilet room completes the space, with a pocket door and a low-flow toilet. Like the other bathrooms, this one features a low-flow toilet, which uses water recycled from roof runoff.

A ventilation system controls moisture, reducing bathroom humidity. This is supported by bathroom exhaust fans that are tied to occupancy sensors, so they only run when needed to quietly remove unwanted moisture and odors.

The bath takes a turn for the luxurious with the deep soaking tub. The traditional clawfoot style is set off by a Victorian tub faucet with a hand-held shower. With the shades up, you can lie back in the tub and watch the clouds roll across the sky.

Artwork in the master bath reflects that of the rest of the house, with prints of plants made to look like pressed cuttings.
