After: The kennel has been moved and painted, and the new design takes both man and dog into consideration.
The backyard in this episode is very plain with few redeeming qualities. A lone tree is near the center of the yard, shading the fenced area that lacks vegetation; there's also a large dog kennel. Host Rick Kaldrovics introduces landscape architect Tara Dillard, who has designed a plan to create a low-maintenance landscape that the homeowners and their dog can share. The plan will bring life to the backyard by sectioning it with hedges and giving it the feel of an English vegetable garden. Evergreen shrubs and groundcovers will provide structure as they mature. Dogwoods, hydrangeas, azaleas and mulched paths transform this plain yard into an inviting outdoor living space.
