In midspring, the fringetree earns its name with fleecy clouds of white flowers. There are two main types--the Chinese fringetree and white fringetree --and considerable variability within each species. Both types, especially Chinese fringetree, tolerate a wide range of soils. The foliage of Chinese fringetree hangs on late in the fall.
