Figure D
Whitney Ferre from Creative Fitness Center shows host Kathi Cardinalli how to make a garden sculpture that adds style to flower beds.

Materials:

copper piping (5 to 6 feet long)
copper tubing
soldering wire (of varying thickness)
glass globs or beads
paint
personal objects

Steps:

  1. Most copper piping is sold long enough so that it can be pounded into the ground, with a decorative piece then placed on top (figure A). The decorative piece is copper tubing that resembles a refrigerator coil and is shaped in the form of a circle. Bend the end pieces to so that both fit into the copper piping.

  2. Coil soldering wire around the copper tubing in a desired pattern (figure B).

  3. Curls, shapes and other accents can be implemented because the soldering wire is very easy to bend.

  4. Switch to a different thickness to enhance the original design (figure C).

  5. Use soldering wire to secure glass globs or beads (figure D). A foot-and-a-half of wire should be sufficient.

  6. Once the glass is secure, simply attach them to the copper piping. The hanging glass will catch the sunlight.
