Picket-Fence Charm

Before: An overgrown boxwood hedge blocks the view to the rest of the backyard and makes this area feel too enclosed. The homeowners want to retain the shape of the garden but they'd like a more open feeling.

This makeover dramatically changes the look of a landscape while keeping its structure and shape intact. Host Rick Kaldrovics introduces John Pettigrew, who converts a garden that's surrounded by overgrown boxwoods into a more open and casual landscape. To maintain the structure of the area, Pettigrew installs a picket fence planted with low-growing shrubs and flowers.
