Figure A
Figure A--There is no easy answer for watering plants, because each plant has its own individual needs. The most important thing to do is read the plant labels and keep them handy. A moisture meter is a great device for keeping track of the wetness of a plant's soil. A funnel is the perfect object for channeling water to the soil without getting the leaves wet. Use both items to help you correctly water plants.

Figure B
Figure B--Plants with similar watering needs should be kept together and clearly labeled. Use a waterproof marker on a label that can be tucked into the soil so that there is no mistaking the plant's drinking habits. Try to hide the label in the foliage and refer to it, or leave it in the clear for a few days until you have established a watering routine.

Figure C
Figure C--Instead of bark or moss, use buttons and other unique items as mulch to help keep moisture in the soil. Rocks, pebbles and marbles are some other objects that can help keep a plant hydrated and healthy.
