Figure A--Ancient peoples and druids revered the mistletoe because it bore green leaves and white berries--even in the wintertime, when other plants were brown and dead. With the advent of Christmas celebrations, mistletoe and other evergreen plants such as holly came inside. The plant was also associated with peace, when enemies would come together and lay down their arms under Christmas greenery.

Figure B--To many each year, Christmas is much more than the presents, trees, wrappings and decorations. All the preparations are really just a way to celebrate family togetherness each year.
