Q&A: Annual Bluegrass

Gardening by the Yard : Episode GBY-605 -- More Projects »
Q: How can I get rid of annual bluegrass?

A: Annual bluegrass--known botanically as Poa annua--is a weedy relative of the popular turf, Kentucky bluegrass. Though people spend time and money trying to get rid of it, I've never understood why. It's not bad looking, and while it's commonly found in lawns in early spring, it disappears in warm weather, and this is why it's also called six-weeks grass.
