The characteristic golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers of black-eyed Susan in late summer make this an excellent choice for any perennial border. A durable, low-maintenance perennial. It grows to 18 to 36 inches tall and 24 inches wide.

How to use it: In masses, in containers or as a specimen plant. Naturalize. Plant with other sun-loving flowers, such as coneflower (Echinacea).

Culture: Prefers full sun and a moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates dry and clayey soils and shade. Doesn't require much deadheading. Can have problems with reseeding. Propagated by seed, division, or stem cuttings. Divide every three to five years to maintain vigor of clump and control spreading. No serious pest or disease problems.

Special Notes: Valued for its low maintenance in the landscape and golden-yellow flowers. Fairly drought tolerant. Attracts wildlife, including birds and butterflies.
